Travel Update: Direct European Flights to Seychelles and Flexible Ferry Bookings

We recognize that current events in the Middle East are prompting many travelers to review their flight routes, particularly those transiting through the Gulf region. To help you make informed decisions regarding your upcoming itinerary, we are sharing two important updates regarding your travel to and within the Seychelles.

1. SeyFerry: 72-Hour Full Refund Policy

For your inter-island transfers, SeyFerry continues to offer a highly flexible booking policy to accommodate changing travel plans.

  • Cancellation Window: You can cancel your ferry trip up to 72 hours before your scheduled departure.

  • Refund: All cancellations made within this window are eligible for a full refund.

You can secure your tickets between Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue without worrying about losing your funds if your international flights change.

2. Air Seychelles Launches Direct Flights to Paris

If you are reconsidering flights that transit through the Middle East, a new travel corridor is now officially open. Starting March 20, 2026, Air Seychelles has launched direct, non-stop service between the Seychelles and Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Key details of the new route:

  • Direct Access to Europe: The flights operate point-to-point directly to Paris, bypassing traditional transit hubs entirely and offering easy onward connections across Europe.

  • Aircraft Details: The route is operated using a Boeing 787-900 Dreamliner (via an agreement with Etihad Airways). The aircraft features 290 seats, including 28 fully lie-flat Business Class seats and 262 comfortable Economy Class seats.

  • Increased Security and Stability: This independent route provides a reliable travel alternative that is completely insulated from regional airspace disruptions in the Gulf.

  • Flight Schedule: Flights operate on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

    • Until March 28, 2026:

      • HM1008: Departs Seychelles at 10:00, arrives in Paris at 17:30.

      • HM1007: Departs Paris at 19:30, arrives in Seychelles at 08:30 (+1 day).

    • From March 29, 2026:

      • HM1008: Departs Seychelles at 09:00, arrives in Paris at 17:30.

      • HM1007: Departs Paris at 19:30, arrives in Seychelles at 07:30 (+1 day).

Morning ferry and traffic

Especially if you have booked the morning ferry, please set off from your accommodation to the ferry jetty in good time.

The heavy rush hour traffic in the morning with traffic jams must be taken into consideration!

Yes, we know: it’s not fun to get up early when you’re on holiday, but please start on time and better enjoy your coffee at the harbour than miss your ferry. Thank you!

New port fee introduced

For departures from 1st September 2023, the Seychelles Ports Authority will apply an embarkation fee (port fee) for all adult passengers.
Children aged 0-12 years are exempted from the port fee.

This port fee will be charged at a rate of 2 EUR or 25 SCR (Seychelles Rupies), per trip.
Clients with a through ticket Mahe/La Digue or vice versa will still pay Euro 2 per adult.

From 01 September onwards, the port fee will automatically be applied to all Cat Cocos bookings.
For Cat Rose bookings (Praslin – La Digue), the port charge will be paid on site in Seychelles Rupies (25 SCR) or 2 Euro per adult. Payment in Euro coins will not be accepted.

We of SeyFerry are far from happy about this decision of the Seychelles Ports Authority and the Government of Seychelles and especially about the introduction of this new tax at such short notice. However, we have to comply with the decision as the Seychelles Parliament has passed the relevant legislation.
