“Cat Cocos” high-speed ferry from La Digue to Mahé

The trip

La Digue and Mahé are connected by the comfortable high-speed ferry “Isle Of La Digue” which runs 2-3 times per day.
Usually there is a short stopover on Praslin.

If you prefer other timings, you may have more options by booking a ferry from La Digue to Praslin and then adding a Praslin – Mahé ferry to your itinerary.

Departure point is at the La Passe pier, which is in the western part of La Digue Island.
The trip between La Digue and Mahé takes about 1 1/2 hours.

Arrival on Mahé is the Inter Island Terminal, in walking distance from the capital Victoria.

Taking the Cat Cocos ferry from La Digue to Mahé is a great way to enjoy spectacular views of the islands. You may see flying fish and even dolphins if you’re lucky.

We strongly recommend to prebook your ferry trips in the Seychelles. Often ferries are booked out and without a reservation you might get stuck on the island.

Booking classes

On the ferry “Isle of La Digue” which does the direct connection between Mahé and La Digue, there are 3 classes available:

Main cabin (called “Coco de Mer class”): Air conditioned and with TV entertainment. No option to upgrade once you’re on board.
The snack bar serves food and beverages including a range of alcoholic drinks. Please note: The snack bar is still closed at present, even after COVID regulations stopped.
For your convenience there are two sets of toilets.
Luggage allowance in “Coco de Mer” class: 25 kgs, plus hand luggage *)

Upper deck (called “Island Hopper class”): In the fresh air, but with rain and wind covers for those occasional wet days. When booking upper deck, you have the option to move down to the main cabin if you wish, subject to availability.

The upper deck affords island lovers the most panoramic views of the islands.
Same as on the main deck, a snack bar serves food and beverages including a range of alcoholic drinks. Please note: The snack bar is still closed at present, even after COVID regulations stopped.

Business class (also called “Lazio Lounge”):
The wide seats with exaggerated leg room of 85cm give you the freedom to stretch out. Another big advantage of business class is the priority boarding and checkout.
So if you are in a rush, booking business class will get you and your luggage on or off board much faster, compared to economy class! A superior luggage service with special luggage tags insures priority handling.

Passengers are welcomed onboard via the private Business Class entrance to enjoy the facilities that are combined with the atmosphere of the air-conditioned cabin.

The all inclusive services of the Lazio Lounge consist of a fully equipped bar serving alcoholic and soft drinks, tea and coffee, also included are welcome drinks, cold towels, a trolley service of newspapers and magazines along with in-seat personalised service of breakfast buffet and afternoon tea, all served in-seat on personal tray tables. Please note: This service is still suspended at present even after COVID regulations stopped.
The lounge is equipped with wireless headphones which allows passengers to enjoy movies and screened entertainment at their pleasure without disturbing fellow passengers. The Lazio Lounge passengers have exclusive use of private toilets.
Enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of the Indian Ocean and arrive relaxed and cared for.

Transfer

a) Shuttle bus:
If you leave the Seychelles on an international flight after the ferry arrival on Mahé, you may book a shuttle bus which takes you from the ferry jetty directly to Seychelles Mahé International Airport.

To add the shuttle bus to your ferry booking, simply tick the box “Yes, I would like to book a shuttle bus from the ferry jetty to the airport” when booking your ferry (in step 2).

The shuttle bus from the Inter Island Pier leaves after arrival of the ferry and luggage hand-out. Approximate travel time between the jetty and the airport is 15-25 minutes, depending on traffic.

This service is only bookable in connection with an international flight.

b) Do it yourself:
Another alternative is organizing your own taxi. For comparison, a taxi from the ferry jetty to Mahé International Airport will cost 500-600 SCR (35-44 Euros), depending on the amount of luggage you have and your negotiating skills. Travel time to the airport will be 15-25 minutes, traffic permitting.

Note: If you are in a rush to catch your flight, it’s a good idea to book the ferry’s business class (“Lazio Lounge”), because this will ensure that you will be the first who gets their luggage off the ferry.

Schedule

Our booking system automatically shows the available ferries for any given day.
Below is the current schedule for all connections between the islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.

As you will see, they do not have many connections that go all the way from La Digue to Mahé.

So as an alternative, you may want to book La Digue – Praslin with Cat Rose and then Praslin – Mahé with Cat Cocos. This might give you more connections and more options to reach Mahé from La Digue. Please make sure to have 30 minutes or more between the departure on La Digue and the departure on Praslin, to allow for changing the boats.
